I'm planning to try KISS Grammar and I may also try some MEP to supplement our Math Mammoth. However, this will be our first year and I have no idea if I will even like these resources once I start using them! (CLE doesn't necessarily NEED supplementation; I just like how MEP makes them think a bit differently, and they love the fact that they get to color and figure out patterns and fun stuff like that). I plan to use KISS next year, after going through Nesbit's Grammar Land (on Google books). I use Ambleside as well. I'm not using either one of these, but I've always said that if I had no budget for homeschool (but still had internet access and a printer!), then I'd definitely follow their suggestions. I did consider using OFE when dd was in 1st grade, but I could see where it would get too time-consuming once I had several levels to teach (and I didn't take the time to figure out how I would combine later on). I do prefer "real books" in my hand to printouts, but I do still look at OFE's suggestions from time to time and we have read a couple of random books (that I printed out) here and there. I burn Librivox audio books for the kids to listen to at bedtime. We used starfall for an entire year and my kids LOVED it. We'd still use it but we're so busy with our current book curriculums. We were low on funds for homeschooling and so I did the OFE for the first 1.5 years of our homeschooling adventure. It was ALOT more work that had to be put into it because I am teaching 2 grade levels. However we still use some of the suggestions. I use to religiously link that website, recommend it to many families and constantly visit the site...now that we're going a different direction now that we've managed some funds to purchase things to make homeschooling a bit less stressful on the house I rarely visit it. Click on the links in the middle column, which are PDFs. There aren't guides for the "Again" series, as those appear to be reviews of the corresponding episodes in the main series. And it looks like there are also no guides available for the "Another Step" series. But there are guides for the "First Step" series in all 3 languages, and guides for the "Next Step" series for Spanish and French. Primary Language Lessons (1 hb book is all you need for grades 2 & 3) Intermediate Language Lessons ( 1hb for grades 4, 5 & 6) Practical Arithmetic by Strayer and Upton. Has lessons, and answers. Book 1, hb, for grades 3 and 4 Bk 2, hb for grades 5 and 6 Bk 3 hb for grades 6 and 8 These can be used with all of your kids and resold to recoup some of your investment. If you don't mind reading lessons off the screen that would be the way to go. Personally I would be printing it up, and it would end up costing me more in printer ink. The book is cheaper for me. The videos are up on YouTube and also linked through the School House Rock website.
