Guest jpate
My 6 yr old and I are on lesson 124 of OPG. She still needs help with every fourth word and is slow slow in sounding out each word. Is this normal progress? She's my first and I just want to make sure that I don't need to go a bit slower. We usually do about 4 lessons/week. Amy in Orlando
She sounds like she is doing just fine to me. Take your time. If she doesn't get a sound or a blend, go ahead and back up. Once it clicks, she'll take off full speed. Don't worry at all.
AKshanmar
It sounds like it hasn't "clicked" yet, but once it does, she will have all that info stored somewhere. I thought my youngest would never, ever learn to read. We were struggling along like you are when she was 7, reading the lowest level books. I was trying to push those easy chapter books, of which I had a collection, when overnight, she was suddenly reading real chapter books! We never even read the lower level ones. Keep plugging away! AKshanmar
I meant to say...If she resents it, or isn't enjoying the experience, I would pull back, and give her a break. But if it is just going slow... keep plugging!
GreenKitty
It sounds good to me. I just keep moving along if the kids are willing and like it. :)
