MerryAtHope
What books do you add for history and literature? I plan to add in books from Sonlight cores 6, 7, 100, and 200 as they line up (or as we want) when we get there. (We'll be doing MOH 1 next year). I'll also look at some Diana Waring suggestions if I don't have enough from SL, though I think I will. Also you can look at Illuminations, which is put out by Bright Ideas Press--they do a high school guide and you can look at their book list or use their guide. Chris in VA
Beowulf Canterbury Tales (selected) Divine Comedy--Purgatorio or Inferno Augustine's Confessions (not the last part) Song of Roland Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (Pyle) 100 Greatest Christian Events Rule of St. Benedict Julian of Norwich Showings Little Flower of St. Francis (selections) These are GB's for the most part, written during the time. MOH comes with great rec's, too. Or check out WTM for rec's for that time period.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but just wanted to ask Merry a question. Are you going to be using MOH 'instead' of SL? If so, why the change? Just interested.... dcurry
We are doing Mystery of History volume 2 this coming school year. I was considering doing Sonlight core 200 for my daughter who will be in 8th grade this year (- some of the books to make it a lighter load for her). Am I reading correctly that these would go well together? (I have 3 younger boys who will be doing MOH with us). Thanks for any input. Just interested.... Sorry I missed this thread, Linda. I used MOH when my kids were younger--I fit it into cores 1 & 2 (only 2 MOH volumes were out then, and I finished up with CHOW), and I've always wanted to do it again, only one volume a year as it was designed to be used. I really liked Sonlight Cores 3 & 4 as is. Core 5...we liked the lit & readers, but only some of the history. Parts of Core 5 history were really disappointing. So it made me think again about MOH and veering from SL--the lit. & readers are always our favorite part. So...that's what we're going to do. I'm really excited, I know they'll learn and retain a lot with MOH, plus I think it will give them time to pursue subjects they'd like to learn more about for history projects. HTH! Merry :-)
