IEW Windows to the World

Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide on literature for my ds for next year who will be in grade 8. Would this be a good course? I am also considering Smarr's Intro class. Is Windows to the World a year-long or a semester class? Just wondering how it is scheduled. I would like to do more than just short stories.

We are using Kolbe's jr. high program right now, and I could continue with it.

Any ideas for a good grade 8 lit. program to segue into high school literature?

I am not super keen on Lightning Lit or Literary Lessons from Lord of the Rings.

Jill Pike wrote a set of lessons plans to spread Windows to the World over a full year by adding in a few more short stories, two novels (To Kill a Mockingbird and Jane Eyre), and a play (Hamlet).

I found Windows to the World difficult to plan using just the teacher book. Jill's plans have worked out beautifully. You can view her plans at no charge, but should pay $10 if you end up using them.

I know her lesson plans are posted in the files section at IEWFamilies on yahoogroups.
