What does your master high school plan look like?

Recommended Posts

Here's ours. Keep in mind that it is all theory at this point :D:

9th:

Algebra II

Biology

Latin I

Computer Applications

TOG Yr 1/Omnibus (History, English, maybe Religion)

Logic II

10th:

Geometry

Chemistry

Latin II

TOG Yr 2/Omnibus

Logic III or Apologetics

11th:

Trig/Pre-Calc

Anatomy & Physiology

Latin III

TOG Yr 3/Omnibus

Rhetoric

12th:

Calculus

Physics

Greek

TOG Yr 4/ Omnibus

Govt & Econ

There will also be flute/ music theory, art/ art history, home econ, and phys ed each year, and we will decide how to work those credits out later. Dds also have a work/volunteer experience each year in one of dh's programs, but I think those will stay extracurricular except for maybe an 'internship' for credit their senior year, with added academic work (research/ writing.)

I'm always open to suggestions or constructive criticism, too, from those who have BTDT. :001_smile:

9th grade has been:

TOG History/Geography Y2U3U4Y3U1, hopefully we'll finish Y3U2

TOG R level Literature

CW Diogenes Maxim, would really like to get to Chreia, but I doubt it

Biblical Hebrew2 and Torah Appreciation, with several public speaking engagements canting aliyah

LOF Beginning Algebra

Just started Kolbe Physical Science

PE has been on the back burner, hope to get to that this summer as she wants to get certified to be a life guard

Volunteering in the nursery at least once a month where she is often responsible for coming up with a craft and teaching it to the children.

This is not what I had planned, but it's what we've ended up doing.

For ninth, I think we may do American Literature (LL 9 and Excellence in Literature) and American history as well. Tentatively projecting.... ;)

You know, I'm really excited about doing American literature/history in 9th. I didn't feel like my son was ready for the hard core ancient literature thing *and* he was also ready for a break from world history after the second rotation. American history and literature seems to be the perfect solution.

I like the idea as well; we may study a little ancients on the side (if we have time). At least a Great Book or two..

I also really like the fact that we can do the Lit w/ the American history, instead of studying them disjointedly.

French 2

Finish Latin 2 OR computer programming OR start Spanish (1/2 credit)

11th grade:

12th grade:

Physics

French 4

Computer programming OR Spanish (1/2 credit)

Rhetoric (1/2 credit)

I plan on doing Atelier art with him and his siblings during the summers, and he plays French horn and sings in choir at music co-op. He's also in Scouts. He may join a debate team at some point, and we just started going to a new church, so he may end up joining the youth group and classes there--it's an Episcopalian church, so I think the classes are called CYE?

I'm just not sure about 12th yet. He needs a speech class. I'm hoping to get him involved in debate, but we'll see. He's awfully shy, but such a researcher. His brother LOVES to argue. They would make a great team. He could do tons of research and his brother present.

I've looked at the requirements for several colleges too.

For 9th grade, next year, I am planning to have dd do English, math, science, American history, physical education, and Spanish. I'd like her to do logic, and she wants me to set up a course in cultural studies as an elective.

I have ideas and general plans for the next 4 years but nothing is set in stone yet. I'm not even 100% sure exactly what curriculums I'll be using next year.

4 credits English (grammar, comp and literature -always including vocab and for my 15 yo spelling though not counted on credits). I've counted Traditional Logic here, too.

2-4 cr. Math (depending on kid) & I've counted Symbolic Logic here, too.

2-4 cr. Science (depending on kid)

4 cr. History

1-3 cr. Gov/ Econ (though we usually do more because of TeenPact and working on campaigns)

4 credit Fine Art (usually we have far more than this because we do art every year and theater every year as well as participate in a One Act Play festival)

1 cr. Speech (though we usually have more than that due to TP and drama) I would love to have a debate program available.

1-4 cr. Foreign Language (depending on kid- my goal is to ramp this up for the last 3)

Misc credits of Apologetics, Bible, PE
