HRAAB
I'm about ready to take the plunge and purchase the Island series for my twins. This is after my promise not to purchase any new curriculum. The one thing that is making it easier to part with the money is that it's nothing like any other lang. arts program I've seen. I teach the parts of speech and writing through copywork and dictation (supplement with a workbook sometimes) and try to hold off on using a textbook (R&S or VIE type) until later because they are so dry and boring and make English such a dreaded subject, imo, anyway. MCT appears to be written by someone who loves English and would like to impart that love to students. The only negatives I've heard are it's teacher intensive (not a problem, this is my favorite subject) and that it's 'different'. I take that to mean it's something like Miquon is for math. Since I managed to figured out Miquon and I'm not a math person, I think I'll be okay with figuring out MCT. Now my question after all that: are there any other things that you didn't like about it? Anything? I want to consider this carefully since it's a fair amount of money. I've looked at the samples and read through pdf explaining the program. I've read through numerous threads and find next to no complaints about the program. Thanks.
