TTC Highschool Chem.

Recommended Posts

TTC's Highschool Level Chemistry looks interesting. My dd loves Chemistry, so I am seriously considering this for part of her 9th grade year.

Does anyone know how complete this is? Would it be too much to do these and Apologia Chemistry together? We already have the Apologia stuff, and the lab stuff to go with it.

Has anyone used this? If so, what did you think of it? Did it explain things well?

Thanks for any info. you may have!

The TTC Chemistry course is not a full chemistry course. It is more of a "math of chemistry" course. It will work with just about any chemistry curriculum and provides supplemental teaching for selected topics (usually of the mathematical variety).

You can easily use it with Apologia. In fact, someone has produced an Apologia Chemistry/TTC Chemistry schedule which allows you to see which TTC episodes to use for selected Apologia modules.

I used it years ago and think it is a nice supplement.

We use it as a supplement. My ds likes the teacher a lot, and says he explains things so much better than Jay Wile (he hates Apologia, btw :))

It would not be sufficient on its own, but I'm glad we have it for a supplement.

My 16yo did the Apologia Biology. He said it was okay, and was willing to do the Apologia Chemistry. For some reason he picked it over Spectrum.

Then things changed and he went to a Christian Boarding school with a friend. He's done some amazingly neat stuff there, so I'm happy for him---it seems to be the right decision (but I miss him! :( ) ANYWAY, I had already gotten his curriculum for this school year next year when this other plan came up. So there it sits. I just figured I'd use it for dd.

What curriculum does your ds like? Our oldest did A Beka Physical Science, then BJU.

Oh, btw, you wanna sell your TTC Chem.? :)
