annabanana1992
DS, while he finds biology interesting, is really struggling with the assessments in Campbell's Exploring Life. He outlines each chapter, does the online work, the review, etc., and studies but does not do very well on the tests. Any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone experiencing similar struggles? Thanks! Jane in NC
My son used the big Campbell and would not have survived without the study guide. Does your son's text have one? It was essentially a consumable workbook.
EKS
Do you discuss the material with him? I'd go over important information, diagrams, and so forth with him to be sure he understands it. I would also analyze the pattern of errors on the tests as this might shed some light on what is going on.

Michelle in AL
Are you using the online quizzes as test? If so, we found them to be very difficult. They focus on minute details, often those which are unimportant. If you're using a different test, I would be sure to have a test preview day of what's going to be covered a couple days before the test. Let him know what to focus on. TravelingChris
THis is a difficult thing to do but if the tests are too hard, make your own tests. You may want to use some of the original questions but add ones of your own.

Michelle in AL
Sorry ccmom, I can't find it now. I generally don't like those online quizzes, so I didn't save it and when I go back and searched google I didn't find it.
LBS
http://www.phschool.com/el_marketing.html To find all the teaching aids for many levels of support, for an textbook, you can go to the publisher website, cut and paste the list with ISBNs then search Amazon and textbook sites for the correct year and best price....lots of cutting and pasting. Is this clear? LBS Edited May 14, 2010 by LBS

Beth in SW WA
Amazon has the Guided Reading and Study Workbook for Exploring Life Jackie The study guide is awesome. The Test Set/ExamView has 2 versions of the chapter tests (w/ answers, of course). I gave one as a pre-test when my ds did Bio EL a couple years ago. The activity cd is a nice addition to the program if you like computer activities.
