BikeBookBread
I got a beautiful Le Creuset french oven for Christmas. Her name is "Cerise" (she's cherry red). I've wanted one for probably 15 years! I don't have a crock pot, and I don't want to buy another piece of kitchen equipment. I used to have a CP, but sold it at our pre-move garage sale because I just didn't use it often enough to justify its storage footprint. So I understand how they work -- surrounding the whole receptacle with heat. I have a convection oven. Would you think it would be possible, using my LC which conducts heat amazingly well, to approximate a crock pot in the oven? What heat setting would you use? There are just so many wonderful CP recipes, and there are days (like today) that I would love to throw a bunch of stuff into a pot and walk away... HRAAB
This is exactly what I do. I don't have a convection oven, but I set mine around 250 for slow cooking. I brown the meat first on the stove top and then pop it in the oven. It is wonderful. In fact, I like the final product better than from my crock pot.
