Jenn in CA
I'd like to download The Taming of the Shrew with footnotes explaining some phrases. I really like Oxford School Shakespeare versions, but am looking for something free. Maybe I'm asking too much. I found one on Google Books called "With the Famous Temple Notes" and they are a little helpful. Thanks for any ideas!
JennW in SoCal
I don't think this is downloadable, but have you checked out Sparknotes recently? They have complete "No Fear Shakespeare" editions with the original text on one side of the screen and a "modern translation" on the other side. The Sparknotes guides also have a nice analysis of each scene in his plays. My ds and I are reading The Tempest by listening to an audio version I found at the library while each of us reads our own print copies. The print copy I found at the library is the New Folger Library Shakespeare, and it has lots of notes for each page. My other copy is an old paperback I've had forever, so basically this is a free study of Shakespeare with as many notes and explanations as we need to thoroughly enjoy it. We listen and read an act, then read the scene by scene Sparknotes analysis.
