Sharon in MD
I'm sure we aren't the first and I know we won't be the last with this request.... Please pray for our son at college, I think he probably has H1N1. Temp is not too bad yet, about 100.4. He will go to the clinic in the morning. The frustrating thing has been trying to find out from tricare (military dependants version of health insurance/hmo) how to see someone when you are away from home....don't even get me started... That aside, the important thing is to ask you to pray for his health, safety and recovery. We are supposed to go visit for Family weekend this weekend. Don't know yet if he'll be up to it. I'm sure most of you can identify with the awful feeling of not being able to be there for your baby..... I want to go take care of him and I can't.... Thanks for your prayers and support Sharon
Nan in Mass
Oh Sharon! I'm sure he will be fine, but still... How awful for you both. Hugs and good thoughts coming your way. -Nan
HeidiD
That aside, the important thing is to ask you to pray for his health, safety and recovery. Sending up a prayer, Sharon. I can only imagine how stressful this must be. Has he been able to get to a doctor?

Miss Marple
Aw, I'm sorry. I went through this just about 3 weeks ago with my ds. I know what you're going through :grouphug:.
MommyX8
My college daughter got it last week. We found out how sick she was when we called to tell her not to come home because her younger sister tested positive for flu. Her fiance brought her to the school clinic and they gave her hand sanitizer and 3 cough drops. Her fiance then brought her to the ER where they gave her Tamiflu and Zofran (for nausea.) She felt much better on the Tamiflu but this is still lingering a week later. So do be careful with school clinics.
Susan C.
My college son got it, but he is at home. I didn't take him to the doctor, just watched, and he got better in a week. He was really congested, so make sure you encourage him to drink a lot of water, and to take a decongestant (we did Sudafed w/guaifennesin, which is Mucinex) to keep things from freezing up and infecting (dd's friend got a lung infection from H1N1). Also, at night, we had to give Benadryl (to get that dripping down the throat thing stopped) and Delsym to hold the cough while he slept (stopped Delsym during the day). HTH, and I would be nuts if I couldn't help him from far away!!! A good friend of his could get a bunch of bottled water and meds for your son to have by the bed and bring food from the cafeteria hopefully. Tree House Academy
I will pray for him! I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your child away from you while sick. *HUGS*
Blue Hen
Praying here Sharon. My 2 sons (still at home) both came down with the flu early last week---thankfully AFTER the one took the SAT on Satursday. Our Dr didn't even want to see them, told me over the phone that she would not prescribe tamiflu even if I insisted upon bringing them in  --- their symptoms matched H1N1 symptoms too. Tonight will be the first time in 10 days the youngest will be leaving the house. Here's to a speedy recovery. Carole
Sharon in MD
Thank you one and all for all your prayers! I think they really worked a miracle, or perhaps I was a little to quick on the panic button. This is the first time I've had him really live away, you know? I really thought from what he was describing last night that we were on the swine flu path for sure, but his fever was gone this morning. He did go into the clinic, and when they checked the temp it was fine (he had also checked it in his room) and he had not had anything to suppress it for 10 hours. :001_huh: If it comes back or if he developes other symptoms, he will go back in of course. But at this point, it may only be a mild flu bug variant. He did have the seasonal shot, which some folks are saying can possibly reduce the severity of other similar viruses. I don't know...my boss has had H1N1 and his temp never went above 100.5... he just slept about 20 hours a day for 4 days... It seems to me that this is a very weird bug, some get really sick and some don't seem to have much trouble at all. ANyway, we will watch from afar and keep praying. thanks so much again!!!! Susan C.
My ds got better after the first, but by the end of the second day, he was pretty sick, that is characteristic of this flu.
Sharon in MD
I don't know...but after talking to him tonight, my mom gut says the kid has some kind of flu like bug....what is the politically correct euphemism...Flu-like illness or whatever. He is in the middle of midterm prep, he doesn't want to miss class or exams because the makeups are harder....what is a mom or kid to do? I told him if he feels up to going to class tomorrow, go. Then get over to the med center as soon as class is out (2:00 for him). Tell them how lousy he feels and try to get some tamiflu..... I don't know what else he could do.... We will be going up Friday for Parent's weekend....at least I'll get eyes on him that way. So...please keep praying... Let's all pray for all our kids with this thing especially.
