Can you share what your 10th graders are doing this year?

Well ours has changed a couple of times over the summer but we now have it situated, so here it is:

 

Bible-Worldview using a variety of sources

 

Math-MUS finish Algebra 1 and then complete algebra 2

 

Science-Biology-using Biology 101 DVD's plus labs and lots of other things to flesh it out

 

History-US history using WTM methods and will be adding in Truthquest

 

Composition-IEW US History based writing lessons, writing from history and science and our llit. this year

 

Literature-American Literature using both semesters of Hewitts LL(co-op)

 

Grammar-either just review in his composition papers or Easy Grammar Plus

 

Spanish- SOS secondary Spanish

 

Intro. to computers-using the curriculum I used in college in the Spring

 

Tons of activities with our homeschool group.

Finishing Apologia Biology (Last yr. she was sick alot)

Tell Me More Spanish and Break the Barrier Spanish (still have to order this)

Some Great Books

Books about Psychology

Books for Bible

Oh, she will be doing the Hands of a Child Lapbook "Under the Hood" along with her dad teaching her how to fix/change things on the van.

Cooking Gluten/Casein Free

and anything else I can think of for Home Ec.

Oh yeah, PE: volleyball and we are thinking of joing the gym

and she needs vocabulary

Bible - Balancing the Sword and church Bible quizzing team

IEW-based advanced composition - with a tutor

R&S 8 Grammar only

Saxon Advanced Math - at co-op (I have no math brain cells left!)

Apologia Physics - at co-op

Personal Finance - Dave Ramsey high school curriculum

History & Philosophy through Literature, Ancients - thegreatbooksDOTcom/WEM

Russian - Pimsleur, just dabbling in preparation for CC class next year

Driver's Ed - Crash Proof Your Kids + State Farm's curriculum

PE - football with a local high school team

Congressional Award - volunteering and other activities in pursuit of the award

 

This looks like a lot, but we spread it out. Not striving to finish by May, just before school starts again in the fall!

My dd is doing:

 

Bible, History, Literature: My Father's World World History and Literature

Grammar: Abeka Grammar and Composition IV (not doing all the composition component)

Vocab/Spelling: Abeka Spelling and Vocab

Science: Exploring Creation Through Marine Biology

Math: Finishing last half of Algebra and doing Geometry (MUS) She got behind last year because of a three month missions trip plus she hates math - LOL.

Latin: Latin in the Christian Trivium II

French: Rosetta Stone I combined with Breaking the Barrier French I

Arts/Music: Harmony Fine Arts (if I ever get her started on it)

Our twins are officially 9th graders but we are doing a lot of 10th grade level course work. Also we are planning on doing a 3 yr high school program instead of four.

 

English 10 (grammar, composition, vocabulary, logic)

Algebra 2 then Geometry

Chemistry

World History

World Literature

Health then Consumer Education

Physical Education

 

Latin, Computer Fundamentals, Geology for Ds

Italian, Music Appreciation, Music lessons for Dd

may i ask you if you are liking the break the barrier spanish? My daughter would be in spanish 2 highschool, and we are still looking for a good grammar based curriculum and not pay a million dollars, ha!
