He used a middle school text for the earth science portion, but a high school text for the astronomy portion. Should/ could I give him high school credit for that? On the other hand, I'm not sure how much he got out of it--he answered the questions and took some tests, but he probably doesn't recall very much now. I'm not inclined to give him "official" credit but am wondering what others might do in this situation (as described in my post below). Also, I think retention rate is highly variable among students. Although I didn't think my oldest retained much from his Conceptual PHysics course, he now has had 2 semesters of college physics and I hear him mention things about CP that corresponds to his college courses. I guess we'll wait till next year to see if he's interested in taking a course or two at the high school. Any thoughts about math? He's using Lial's Intro Algebra (After Lial's BCM and Pre-Algebra) but it;s still a slog for hi, He has a hard time retaining the procedures--will do a bunch of problems properly, then come to an application problem and draw a blank (" plus b?!").
