Anyone with SL core 100 who can help with something?

Recommended Posts

Due to financial restraints, I just purchased an older Core 100 to use with my dd14. The woman who I purchased it from said that it did not include any recommendations for Bible. Because of this, and the fact that I really want her doing a Bible program, I think I'm just going to go ahead and purchase the Bible Study Sampler that is listed with the current Core 100.

I'm wondering if there is someone with a newer 100 that would be willing to tell me how they assign the sampler and recommended books for the year.

Also, am I correct in thinking that the IG lays out the readings, but doesn't offer any study notes, other than what is in the sampler?

The Bible Study Sampler is more like a blank fill in the page "workbook" type book. The same questions tend to repeat over and over on a daily basis with very little variety.

My son actually asked to drop this because it made his Bible reading time seem like a chore. He preferred to just read the Bible. After looking this over, I agreed. :iagree:

The other books he enjoyed more. The readings are scheduled for all the "Bible" subject books in the IG. Once in a while, more towards the end of the year, the IG will schedule in a summary of what you think the particular book is trying to say or teach you. This is very rare and I got the feeling they were just filling in time.

I hope this helps you. We just finished 100 and I have the core sitting on my shelf if you need more help.

blessings,

Heather

and....

The books are scheduled about 5pp per day. They just take the books and divide the pages up per school year.

The Sampler just has you jumping all over the Bible. One day you're reading from Judges, day two a Psalm, day 3 Luke, day 4 Matthew, day 5 1 Thessalonians. And the next week it's entirely different.

To get the order the books are read just look in the magazine. The order is unimportant to the understanding.

The sampler is scheduled concurrently while you are also reading the scheduled book.

I just did an older version of SL core 100 with my 7th and 8th graders last year (well most of it). The Bible sampler is not mentioned in the daily 'schedule' of what to read/do when. Then again the other bible books aren't in the schedule either.... and thus we never got to these other bible books (maybe some day as they look good). We tried to just do the Bible scheduler daily, a bit a day.

I apologize for my delay in a response. I was frantically trying to get everything together for a trip, then we were away, just returning last night.

Thank you both for your responses!

So the sampler really doesn't have anything to do with the Bible books that are recommended (Why Pray, God's Will, etc....)? Are those mentioned in there, or is that basically just used with your readings from the Bible?

I'm unsure of what you mean by look in the magazine. Are you referring to the SL catalog?

Would you happen to be interested in selling any of your Bible books;)

Your welcome.

Nope, not that I've seen. The Bible sampler is a separate book that only references the bible. It walks you through 2 passages from the OT and 3 from the NT each week.

I found all this confusing also. Why include all these "bible books" if they were not going to incude them in the daily lesson plans (which are the main part that attracts many buyers)?

Enjoy!

This is the pdf file at SL for Core 100 ~

The bible books are scheduled, yes, but no notes are given for any of them, I believe. I don't have the most current IG, but I think that has always been the case (with the exception of Core 200 and 400).

I am just now seeing this and wanted to say thank you!

Do you have any idea why Day one of the sampler would start on page 7, and day one of the book 'Why Pray' would start on page 26 :001_huh: I'm a little confused! LOL!
