saved1112
Sigh... Need 9th grade science suggestions... Ok, I have a visual learner, likes to read, do worksheet-type work, really likes science (mainly space and biology), but not a mathy child at all. What would you suggest for science? BESIDES BJU, Abeka, or Apologia.. (NONsecular please) Oh, after looking through the Apologia General and Physical texts, there are some things that he may not know from those... Thank you for any help you can offer!
Dani n Monies Mom
Check out Science for High School . I really like it and am seriously considering it for 9th grade. It's a bit non-traditional and discovery based, something I really like. The biology dissections look pretty intense to me, so maybe it's something that may appeal to your dc. It's actually the one area of science my dd would like to avoid. God Bless, Ava

Ya, my son refuses to dissect... even tried watching a video online... still no interest there! :tongue_smilie:
Dani n Monies Mom
Are you guys open to exploring the option for online learning? I'd forgotten about them, but Thinkwell is also an option I've heard good things about. You can watch a demo to see if it appeals to you. There's also Oakmeadow and Noeo Chem 3. Ah, two more, Friendly Chemistry and the manipulatives and Conceptual Physics. God bless, Hth, Ava
Etkids
I know that is ACE is not heavily liked on this board, however I have heard wonderful things about their Biology program so that's what we are going to use. We chose to do the paces along with the dvd's.

Storm Bay
Conceptual Chemistry requires little math as it was designed for liberal arts majors. We have it, since dd is doing it in her gr 9 year.
