Would this work, not as a physics course per se. . .

Recommended Posts

but maybe as a "Topics in Physics", or something like that?

My eldest dd has 3 lab science credits - Chem, Bio, and Adv. Bio. She and I would like to pull together some resources from TOPS this next year and create a .5 credit course in Physics topics - not a regular physics course, but just a basic exploration in various topics. We're looking at possibly electricity, heat, sound - things like that. TOPS labels them for grades 8-12, and knowing their quality, I'd believe it. The rationale is that she didn't take a regular Physics course, and I'd like her to have a basic exposure to concepts she may have missed, but without the rigor of true physics.

So - here's my question.

First, what would you call it on a transcript? "Topics in Physics"? Something else?

Second, should we count hours to qualify for applicable Carnegie Units?

Third, if you actually look at the website :), any books just jump out at you?

Thanks -

I did something I called "Introduction to Physics" with my son using the physics part of Conceptual Physical Science-Explorations. I gave him half a credit for it.

I like your title "Topics in Physics" better than mine though.
