NO $ for .....

Recommended Posts

Rosetta Stone Spanish right now. I hope to have the money for it in the next few months, but DD16 needs to start Spanish 1 NOW. She needs 2 credits of the same language and she is a Jr this year.

We started our new academic year today and I found a few free lessons online so she can get started a little bit.

Is there another GOOD Spanish 1 program that is less expensive than Rosetta Stone?

OR

Is there something free/very inexpensive that she could do a few months until I have the money to purchase RS?

I have NO spanish background /ability. It must be completely self-teaching.

Thanks,

Pam

We use SOS spanish also and have been very pleased. At @ $60 for a year you can't go wrong.

SOS Spanish I worked beautifully for us.

We used studyspanish.com when they were in middle school, and it was fine for me to use with them (I had four years of Spanish, and had no problem designing/teaching a Spanish I course). It worked in much the same way as Latina Christina or Latin Primer works for young students. Intro, basics, general concepts, elementary vocabulary.

This is the two year program. Maybe if I just keep repeating this someone will believe me. This is not illegal or secondhand. They buy the rights and create a new product with everything but the fancy box. Really easy to order from and answer questions promptly. I heard of them through my bil and I ordered software for my film editing ds.

livemocha is free and similar to RS but with some interaction with other learners and natives for certain assignments (such as "discuss your favorite meal.").

We just tried Live Mocha..... it is kind of like facebook, the first thing that happened is that an Arab guy wrote to dd to ask her to help him learn English..... so no more :)
