Question about Notgrass World History

Recommended Posts

We are using this for our son's 10th grade year (upcoming school year). He chose it because he loves history and this looked interesting to him. However, he despises reading. He always has and he probably always will. Now that I've got that nice little tidbit out of the way...here are my questions. :)

In reading an article (parent's guide thing) on the Notgrass website, he says that there are alternatives to the assigned literature books - GA Henty books, The Bronze Bow, Young Fu, etc. These sound much more up my son's alley than a 500 page book on Martin Luther (which, we'll have him read a biography of Martin Luther, I just don't think the one they suggest ;) )

I'm getting to the question...I promise....Has anyone else done this? What books did you use? Do you have a schedule somewhere of what you read when so that it still tied in with the history and Bible portions?

I mean it's obvious when we would switch out the Luther Biography and we'll let him WATCH P&P rather than read it (what torture for a 15 year old boy), but some of the others I'm curious about. I haven't read any of the suggested exchanges (although we'll do Young Fu in Sonlight with two of the girls this year). SO, I don't know enough about them to schedule them in up front.....

That's where I'm hoping that one of you comes in and has already done that nice little bit of work...haha :)

Well, there's my book for the night. If anyone can be of help, I'd appreciate it. This is one more thing I really want to cross off my list. Thanks for any help in advance!

We haven't done world history yet, but we did Notgrass American last year. I encourage you to sign up for the Notgrass Yahoo group, because this kind of question often gets posted and gets lots of response. The ladies in that group are very helpful.

HTH!

P.S. Your kids have fabulous names!
