Foerster Algebra II

Recommended Posts

Two questions about Paul Foerster's Algebra and Trigonometry (Addison-Wesley):

1. I have this book, but I want to send the Table of Contents to a friend (and math teacher) without typing it in. Does anyone have a link to the table of contents that I could send her?

2. My second child is doing this book. She did it last school year, but mid spring we decided to finish it in the summer due to some complications in life. We are reviewing the first eight chapters before we do chapters nine through twelve.

My math-minded son did this book (chapter 1-12) thoroughly several years ago --- and is now an engineering major. My daughter is not math minded and I want to do as little of this book as possible but still be a person of integrity when I give her a credit for it. I want to do as little of it as possible when we are reviewing the first eight chapters --- as well as little of the last four that we still have to do. We are on Chapter 5 now. We skipped some sections of Chapter four. I'm wondering if every section of chapter 5 is necessary ---- and so on, and so one ---- through Chapter 12. ( I'm not even considering the trig chapters)

What I want to know from some of you is this: Which sections in which chapters can be skipped --- with no harm done to a reasonable Alg II credit? Are there any whole chapters that can be skipped?

Thanks!

That's it! Thanks! I'll be emailing it to my friend!

I'd love a Table of Contents like the book has --- listing each section. If anyone has that let me know.

I still have the question of what is skippable --- if anyone has an opinion.

I've been searching around on google looking for info on how to use the assignments for a good, but not rigorous, year of Alg II.

After digging around, I'm thinking that this particular book is often used in AP Algebra II instead of regular. I also looked at BJUP Alg II Table of Contents. It seemed much milder than this book.

I'm still trying to figure out what to have my daughter master in this book to call it a credit. Again, my son (the math kid and now engineering major) did it all and needed it all.
