Relaxed school this summer

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am just popping in for a few minutes. I'm not responding to many threads these days, just lurking on the boards this summer.

We normally school year round. This summer the kids are mainly "just reading" in various subjects. No assignments, no tests. I'll start back with regular assignments and tests in August.

Who else is still doing school, but in a VERY relaxed manner this summer?

We do a relaxed school in the summer. DS#1 is working on SAT math problems on some days, reading books and in August he'll start full-force in on his Physics.

DS#2 is reading tons of books. We're headed off to New England soon for a tour of historical sites. Once back home we'll hit the Civil War sites in the area.

Light school for us.

Um, I've got school lite all planned, but I'm still taking a very needful break. :D And I don't want to give it up just yet. Actually, some of my kids have been productive; I guess it's just me. Ds1 finished his final exam last Friday and headed out Saturday for a 2-month mission trip to Cameroon. Dd1 was at NCFCA Nationals and just finished Latin II, semester I. Ds2 and ds3 will finish camp next week and by then I should be ready for a light routine.

. . . and in August he'll start full-force in on his Physics.

Had to laugh, Carole, as we start back to school in August down here in the South! Your trip sounds wonderful.

We're doing math 3 times a week, finishing up Algebra 1, violin lessons and practicing 3 times a week, Beth Moore Bible study on the book of Esther (which is awesome) at church. I have been homeschooling for 20 years and this is the first summer I have ever done "school". We still have time for plenty of extras and my daughter actually said she doesn't mind. Yay!
