Holly K
I am trying to decide which one to use for my son. He is in the 9th grade. Did anyone find one set of videos more helpful and easier to watch than the other? What about the quality of the topics being covered? I have the MP Latina Christiana dvd's and am a little worried that the Logic ones will be of the same quality. Any input? Thanks, Holly
laughing lioness
Intro and Intermediate Logic are symbolic logic courses. Traditional Logic is a language based logic program. We did Intro and Intermed. last year (14 and 17yo). The 14 yo struggled through it. This year he is at the end of Trad. Logic II and just now needing help. I found that the kids we did the Nance program with (even had a 15 yo doing Alg II in there), really needed the videos and a parent resource. All of the videos are pretty dry, in our opinion, but helpful. Others on the boards didn't need them. You might do a search- it's been discussed a lot;)

kloumc
Dear Holly, For Logic studies, you might just want to consider Logic I: Tools for Thinking by Norman Birkett. Although it doesn't have any "dry" DVD component, it does have thorough and easily understood explanations accompanied by the teacher's manual which gives further help. I had had no logic background whatsover, and I worked through this material with my 8th grade daughter last year and we both learned so much and enjoyed the process! Furthermore, this program is a nice blend of both symbolic logic and language-based logic. You can learn more about this program by going to the website for Classical Legacy Press: www.classicallegacypress.com HTH!
