Miss Austen Regrets...

Don't know about accuracy, but I really enjoyed this movie, too. The young actress playing her niece was incredible. It was a hard one to watch, though -- regrets and disappointed expectations are extremely painful topics for me personally at this particular point in my life.

Oh, Lori. I'm sorry that you're going through this.

I need to see this movie, I guess. I purposely avoided it because I had heard that it was not accurate. I heard that it based Jane Austen's story telling inspirations on the possible disappointments in her love life. This couldn't be right because she wrote Sense and Sensibility (under the title Elinor and Marianne) and Pride and Prejudice (under the title First Impressions) when she was very young, maybe even at age 17 if I am remembering properly. If anyone has read her juvenilia, for ex. her History of England which is hysterical (!) you can see that she was brimming with wit from a very young age. So I guess I was just knee-jerk in thinking that the movie world wanted to turn her wonderful talent into something inspired by a broken heart and I really don't think that is the case.

So am I wrong in my impressions? Should I give Miss Austen Regrets a try?
