mo2
I've seen recommended here the CD of Seamus Heaney reading Beowulf. I checked on Amazon, and all I find is an abridged version. Is there an unabridged version that I can listen to as I read along in the book? Thanks.

Jane in NC
While I do not have an alternate version to recommend, I wanted to give you the scoop on Heaney. As I recall, about all that is missing from the audio version are the odes that are presented during the banquets. If anything else is missing, I did not remember it to be significant. Hope this helps. Jane
Janice in NJ
Agreeing with Jane here. The abridged was fine. We paused to read the odes by themselves. No biggie. Peace, Janice

Peace, Janice Janice, does this mean I still have some memory function? Is there hope for my brain after all?? :)
Janice in NJ
Yup; there's hope. At least the cool thing is that our brain functions should continue to tapper off at about the same rate ... so I'll always think you're smart! :001_smile: Peace, Janice
Beth in SW WA
Heany's voice is wonderful. It is not a perfect line-by-line reading, but it is easy to figure out where to jump to in the book. Excellent audio!
JennW in SoCal
You can buy and download it from audible.com. You can then listen to it on your computer, burn it to cds or copy it onto an iPod or other MP3 player. It may also be available iTunes.
