Margo out of lurking
It was not a total surprise to see how dismally my dd scored in the BCM pretest today. But it was really, really bad. My original plan was to zip through BCM over the summer to get her ready for 9th grade algebra. It appears that may be just wishful thinking. At this point, I only have the regular textbook, 6th ed. If I get a Study Skills workbook to go along, is it necessary for me to get 6th ed., or would another ed. substitute well enough? Still a little dazed here...and desperately needing suggestions... Thanks.
Caryl
We use BCM as a refresher after finishing Saxon 8/7 and before jumping into Algebra. I really like the way the book is set up, with explanations and "you try" type problems on the sidebars. I think there is enough material there for a summer or a few months without adding the study skills workbook. BCM also revisits all the material that has gone before in a set of problems after each chapter.
Holly IN
Is there a study skills book to go with it? This is the first I have heard of a study skills book. Holly
Margo out of lurking
Is there a study skills book to go with it? This is the first I have heard of a study skills book. Well, it was not what I was expecting. I was thinking (hoping?) it would go along with the book, give specific tips and helps for learning what's being taught in BCM. Instead, it's just a very thin, generalized book on how to study. Not worth the money, but at least I paid barely anything for it. (That should have been my first clue, haha.)
