It's time to get a haircut! I just set my hair on fire reaching for something next to the stove when the front burner was lit under the teapot. Luckily I caught it in time and only burned the ends. I hate that smell, though!

Just caught my father-in-law running an empty microwave as a timer. This is how he ruined the previous 2. I guess I'd better order an old-fashioned kitchen timer! He just doesn't get the one on the stove.

Or you could teach him to also do Cook Control 0 and let him still use it as a timer - without ruining a thing. ;)

I don't mean to scare you, but my mom put a knife into a plugged in toaster to get the toast out one time. I knew she knew better than that, but I didn't know what to make of it. 3 years later, she was diagnosed with beginning stage dementia. I look back now, and feel that was a signal that I missed. Just something to keep in mind. My dad never let on that there had been other telling signs until we saw the bills not getting paid. You might want to stay observant when visiting...

There are 8 police cars lined up across the street. Should I be worried? I don't see any drawn weapons, so I guess that's a good sign.

We had that happen once... except it was a SWAT team in training. Mom called local police and they knew nothing about it. It was pretty terrifying. Try callingthe local office?

The stair-lift has been broken for two weeks now, the company has been here 3 times, for over 3 hours each time, and still can't get it to work. Meanwhile my in-laws have a very hard time walking up the stairs, especially my father-in-law. I think they sold us a dud! Plus the whole house is disrupted while they are here and the carpet on the stairs is full of grease that reeks of chemicals and is giving me a headache. I'm really getting mad!!

Also- they don't put anything down to protect the carpet while they are working? That isn't acceptable either. The company should pay for a professional carpet cleaning on your stairs.

It's at the point where we don't even want to deal with them anymore. I found a company that has a showroom about an hour from us and gets good reviews. I think we may check them out instead. This company used to be great, but they have really changed over the last year.

Is this a nationwide company? If so, could you pm me the name? I don't need one yet but figure I will sometime.

I have to play Yanni to calm my dog while it's thundering. It's either that or reggae, and we listened to that the last time. I tried some classic rock and he was not having it, lol. Oh well...

Yanni! :) My poodle will listen to anything but my dachshund needs Abba or the Great Courses in order to calm down. Aren't dogs fun? :)

A heating pipe just took out our homeschool library. Thank goodness I didn't keep the actual curriculum in that spot! Hopefully the adjuster will come today. They sent someone to assess the water damage yesterday, and he ripped out half of the carpet and put some noisy fans down here. Not much school getting done in this room!

The good news is that they will cover $1600 for books, the bad news is I have to lay out the money and wait to be reimbursed. Thankfully they are sending a check immediately for the carpet that is more than it will cost to replace, so I may get a new couch. They are also covering restoration of nesting tables that my dad bought in Japan in the 30s. Very happy about that because they have a lot of sentimental value to me. Overall I'm very happy with our insurance company.☺

The exterminator is here to handle a yellowjacket nest by our front door. After spraying he ran away like he was being chased by the devil himself. I am not going out there!!

FedEx is without a doubt my least reliable and the UPS driver drives too fast. USPS is the best overall though UPS is faster if you're willing to pay like, double the price!
