Watching a biologist live tweet her dissertation defense is really cool (pre-scheduled tweets)-it's #morailsdefense if anyone wants to hop in!
Sigh...Will ds EVER learn the multiplication table?
Crimson WifeI felt that way with my 2nd. I tried everything I could think of. What finally worked was having him fill out a multiplication chart daily for months. I let him use the chart for his schoolwork but only if he filled it out completely first.

Miss MarpleOne of my boys learned them while bouncing on the trampoline reciting the times table with me. Some studies show that memorization works better when doing something physical while reciting.

It seems an easy question-when does conference registration END tonight? So far, I've called, e-mailed, and messaged four different people, and still don't have an answer. Ugh.
I won't have a car till about 1 this afternoon... hope there is still some cheap chocolate left in the stores!
DD12 is in her first college test (and really, first test with any stakes whatsoever) right now...
dmmetlerTest is done, with a 95! Somehow, I don't think she needed to worry...

Book a Week is live on the chat board - Happy Valentine's Week!
My 14yo told me I sound mad in my texts to her. Apparently putting periods at the ends of my sentences makes me sound mad.
KathyBCHahaha, I will have to try both of these excellent suggestions :D

FarrarShe's not alone though. There's actually been a good bit written about this by actual linguists and so forth.
