Quite proud of my planning system for '17-18. :)
mom31257Is it something you can share somewhere?

WendyAndMiloIt's just a 3-ring binder with 6 weeks worth of work in it so no extra books or teacher's guide...*everything* i need is in one single binder.

mom31257Hola! Is that comment a love of it or a dread of it?

Don't say stinks, Darling. Smells badly is quite crude enough.
Any moms looking to award credits to the transcript for an 8th grader? And if so, what kinds of credits? I'm looking at biology, writing and possibly ASL.
EKSI gave my son (who is now in college) credit for all math taken prior to high school (Algebra I and geometry), lit & comp, geography, and chemistry.

texasmom33I gave DD a U.S. History credit, since it was the same thing most kids do in 9th or 10th.

mom31257Ds is doing Algebra 1 and Spanish 1. We've started some toward 9th grade English and toward Geography, but those will be mostly next year.

Democracy Dies in Darkness. When fact becomes opinion, and opinion becomes taboo, ignorance prevails.
swimmermom3I would think that when opinion becomes "fact," ignorance prevails?
Mar 29 2017 03:21 PM
chiguirreThat swings both ways. You can state opinion and treat them as though they are facts (and hope you fool inattentive people) or you can devalue facts by saying they're just someone else's opinion.

Earth Hour is tonight, 8:30 in any time zone. Let's unplug and enjoy some peace and quiet (and darkness).
From Middle Girl's essay: "Most of America was discovered by bicycle or canoe."

Facing the mid-year slump! How do you keep your motivation going when you're ready to be done for the school year??
Tibbie DunbarI'm always motivated this time of year - all my ps friends are complaining that their children won't learn anything the rest of the year; they'll just be testing. :( So I remind myself grimly to be thankful that my children may keep learning, and that they don't have to take the stupid tests. Honestly, it's enough to keep me going until summer.

JewelsWe took spring break early. I didn't even think about school. I am also doing all my planning for next year now so that in about nine weeks, we can go on summer break. I am also planning out our summer activities. We have so much to look forward to which makes the goal of finishing easier. Hope this helps.

homeschoolmama37Great ideas. Especially taking one day at time. Sometimes I get overwhelmed trying to finish the entire year.
We did take a small spring break- 3 days I think, so that helped.
And yes I'm planning my next year too, which gives me a little motivation and excitement that we are almost done with this year.
