Don't say stinks, Darling. Smells badly is quite crude enough.

Any moms looking to award credits to the transcript for an 8th grader? And if so, what kinds of credits? I'm looking at biology, writing and possibly ASL.

Welcome to high school record keeping, a year early. ;)

Typically Math (Algebra 1 and above), Science (Biology and above), and Foreign Language (of high school level, and with the student continuing into high school with the next levels) are the credits that can be "brought up" onto the transcript from the 8th grade, because these subjects have clear progressing levels of rigor. English, Social Studies, and Electives are not so clear-cut, and so these are almost never inclu...

Facing the mid-year slump! How do you keep your motivation going when you're ready to be done for the school year??

I'm always motivated this time of year - all my ps friends are complaining that their children won't learn anything the rest of the year; they'll just be testing. :( So I remind myself grimly to be thankful that my children may keep learning, and that they don't have to take the stupid tests. Honestly, it's enough to keep me going until summer.

We took spring break early. I didn't even think about school. I am also doing all my planning for next year now so that in about nine weeks, we can go on summer break. I am also planning out our summer activities. We have so much to look forward to which makes the goal of finishing easier. Hope this helps.

Great ideas. Especially taking one day at time. Sometimes I get overwhelmed trying to finish the entire year.
We did take a small spring break- 3 days I think, so that helped.
And yes I'm planning my next year too, which gives me a little motivation and excitement that we are almost done with this year.

Proud of myself - replaced my computer's power supply all by myself. Hopefully, this will fix it! (It was a bad day in our house when both the microwave & the computer died.)

! If the power supply doesn't fix it, I'll be looking at a new motherboard. I have no idea what those cost, but I won't take it to the computer repair place! My backup plan is a homeschooled techy teen. That would be my recommendation. Give them your budget & see what they can do.

Our computer shop said $500-$600! Not worth it. We tried a techy homeschool dad for my laptop last year and didn't get the best result. Our favorite shop (locally owned mom-and-pop) got so popular that they started taking only commercial business. Poo.
