  1. Past hour
  2. There's PLENTY of work to be done once they've moved. They should save their energy for that, IMO.
  3. they are in the upper 50's-low 60's and yeah....that was my gut thought for them as well....but I have no experience as I have not made a big move like this myself in 25 years. Thank you.
  4. Just let the movers do it all. U-Haul rentals are notoriously unsafe vehicles. The amount of money they would save would be a drop in the bucket. Plus, y'know, age. I'm guessing they're at least 50, probably closer to 60. I'm in pretty good shape and I'm a hard worker, so I would be tempted to try moving also. But my moving days are over. It's not worth the risk of injury. Let the pros take care of it.
  5. It really has been quite the ride for your family! Can't wait to hear the final decision!
  6. That would be awesome! It's definitely where we are all assuming he will go but until he clicks on his SIR I am not going say anything to jinx it! Same with his twin - she's choosing between two and we ALL want her to go to SB but also know that it's got to be her own choice 😂.
  7. Friends are moving about 700 miles from their current home. They have been in their current place for about 30 years and they have a lot of stuff. They are sifting through their belongs and downsizing for sure. They are moving into a home that is similar in size to their current home. But the main question is about the physical moving. They are planning on getting a moving company (yes, they are aware of the cost of that), but were wondering if it made any sense (money or time wise) to rent at least one U-Haul truck and move some things themselves. They know that moving companies charge by not only square footage of space, but also weight. So they were contemplating moving some of the heavier things, like boxes of books (he is a bookoholic)....or actually just anything. They don't know enough about weighing that out to make sense of that. I told my friend that you guys are a wealth of knowledge and experience and if anybody would know....it would be the hive. So, I know you won't let me down. 😊
  8. Good Morning!! COFFEE!!~D Blessed Good Friday to you all!! Today i just need to start getting ready for Easter. I need to go to the grocery store and get a ham and a few other essentials. Church service is tonight.
  9. Tried that. Didn’t work. As soon as I click Create, the first slide opens like ot normally does, but it is called Presentation1 [Read Only]. Below the ribbon is a yellow bar that says To keep up to date Check for Updates. Did that. No change. The yellow bar stays. And then there is a second yellow bar that says nothing. Just a yellow bar with an X if I want to close it. I close it. No change. Still Read Only.
  10. No bar across the top saying Enable Editing. Will not allow me to Save or Save As (cuzI haven’t actually crested anything)
  11. We were gifted some peppermint tea bags but no one likes them. Would they be beneficial in my house plants?
  12. I don’t know how you access PowerPoint, but to get work done, can you disconnect from the internet and just create and save to the local hard drive until the connectivity issues can be resolved?
  13. And if it's *children*, you'd think they don't need MEN's . . . .
  14. Is there a bar across the top that has a box that says "enable editing"? If so, try clicking that. Will it allow you to "save as" some name and then edit the PowerPoint?
  15. Good morning! A blessed Good Friday to you. Dd17 is trying to convince her troop/venture crew to schedule a trip to BSA Swamp Base in Louisiana. Paddling through and camping on swamps. Yay Snakes! Mud! Bugs! Alligators! 😭 One thing is for sure - I have not managed to raise any Southern Princesses, lol. We are planning a bunny funeral for today. I think dd21 will try to get here for it - she doesn't have work or class today. The afternoon/evening will be spent in Good Friday services (and rehearsal). I might try to start on banana pudding. Coffee!
  16. On my last trip to Uganda I only accepted cash donations with exceptions for some very specific items-- I've found that I can purchase most of the desired items there and it actually saved money (total donation was larger amount) AND helped the local economy! People who donated received a thank you photo of the items their donations were directed for. Please do not send 'nearly dead' suitcases... I've found that suitcases can become a family's dresser-- and they are cherished! Gently used good quality ones are the best-- nothing that breaks easily (cheap practically disposable duffels or thin plastic suitcases) The only clothing items we would bring were men's neckties--our donated ones were typically better quality and were great gifts for administrators, teachers and drivers. If using a shipping container then matching T-shirts were always requested! One summer I spent two weeks going through JUNK that a school in the USA had 'donated'-- think boxes of pencil stubs and broken crayons-- broken plastic pencil cases, partial sets of flashcards... 90% of it went into the rubbish pit or burn pile! The space in the shipping container could have been used for more useful items... the money for the shipping container could have been used to drill a water well or build a library! Dawn- I'm totally jealous of your trip-- I hope and pray I'll be healthy enough to travel back to East Africa again!
  17. Will it allow you to save the file as another name so you can work with it?
  18. This isn't a problem I needed in my life right now!!🤣 I guess I am forced to rewatch the entire series with a notepad in hands at all times. I'll get to the bottom of this ridiculousness.
  19. I’ve been using a small induction cooktop for several years now. We had intended to do a major kitchen overhaul, drew up plans, talked to contractors… and then decided to buy another house instead, so I didn’t get my induction range as planned. It’s still planned to go into the new house, once we finish our move. So, that’s the background for me. The built-in cooktop I’ve used for years is a smooth-topped electric unit. It’s essentially never used now, unless I desperately need to use an extra unit while cooking a big meal. It’s slow and unresponsive, and cleaning it is a pain because everything burns on before I can remove it. I used a gas stove for about a year while I was in college, so thirty+ years ago now, and occasionally in vacation rentals: not much current experience. I love the induction unit. My favorite things are the responsiveness and the easy cleaning, which is largely due to the fact that the surface of the cooktop never gets terribly hot. The gas would have similar response to temperature changes, but not similar ease of cleaning. My dd who has her own living space now quickly requested a small induction cooktop for Christmas, after experiencing cooking on her own electric stove. But that’s not a comparison to a gas stove. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about gas leaks, which are an issue affecting air quality in homes with gas stoves. I’m glad our house just isn’t connected to gas at all: no fossil fuels, no sources of carbon monoxide. I’m glad cleaning is easy. I’m glad that the cooler burner means greater safety. I have rarely heard the vibration noises. Repositioning the pot seemed to help, but maybe I’m just not sensitive to the sound, or maybe my unit just doesn’t make the noise. No one else in the family has noticed noise. On low settings, yes, there is a pattern of heating briefly and then cooling briefly. It hasn’t affected my cooking: the low temperature is genuinely low. My impression is that some full sized induction cooktops don’t do that, but I would certainly ask about the specific models you’re considering. If you’re undecided, and you already have some pans that would work, try a portable induction burner for a while and see what you think. For an investment of roughly a hundred dollars, you can give it a try before you commit to a big expense. Finally, if you’re reluctant to give up gas but like the sound of induction, I’ve noticed there are some small, built-in induction cooktops with two or three burners. These are cheaper than the full sized ones by an order of magnitude, ranging from about $110-$250, so less of an investment to start, and cheaper to replace down the road. They could supplement a small gas stove, providing flexibility. I doubt the quality is as high as the best induction ranges, but probably the same is true for the small portable induction burners, which in my experience function quite well.

  22. I have had Powerpoint on my mac laptop for years. Additionally, at work, where we use all Microsoft products, I also have Powerpoint. Things can get weird sometimes when I want to do a private document at home not work-related, but I'm still logged into my work email. Usually I can figure out that I need to sign out. Fine. But today, I am trying to create a non-work related Powerpoint, and when I open a new document, it says "Read Only". This is brand new, just opened. Why would it be saying "Read Only"? It is preventing me from being able to create anything. So frustrating. I have logged out of my work email, and logged into Powerpoint with my personal email. Any ideas what's going on?
  23. My cousin graduated from St. Kitts two years ago The pictures she shared from her time there were insane in a good way. Rigorous education, but what a place to get it! She had no shortage of job offers after graduation and so far has seemed happy with where she landed. While it's only been a few years, she seems really happy and fulfilled with her work.
  24. 1) The shape of it is just all wrong. Why was underwear ever designed to barely go over people’s cheeks? Men got boxer briefs first. Finally, they made them for us. Boyshort undies should have been the first logical design. 2) I love those stretchy cheap sport bras they sell on Amazon. However, I never see them with adjustable straps and hook and eye closures AND not so oversized for small books that one has to buy a teen girl version, which rides up all over the books 📚. 😠Because it’s designed for a small girl. So, I found one that ticks all the boxes. For women. With small books. All adjustable. It’s made by Underoutfit. We’ll see how that goes. Pepper bras are awesome, too, just not as comfy as these stretchy ones. As far as the undies, I now know that Duluth Trading Company makes boyshorts for women. They are crazy expensive, but Dh has some. They last for SUCH a long time. And he looks good in them, too. 😁 He gets them for Christmas and they wear like iron. I’m just so tired of wearing substandard underwear, so I’m trying a pair of the boyshorts from Duluth, too.
  25. Do you live in an area with hurricanes, wind storms, or ice storms that will occasionally knock out the power for days or weeks? That’s the reason I’ve heard most frequently for choosing gas over electric.
  26. Actually I am not which is why it has taken me so long to figure this out.
